EV Stocks are Among the Hottest in the Market, But Most are Missing the Really Big and Most Profitable Story—What’s Coming Next By Michael Palmer, Empire Financial Research    January 10, 2022 In recent weeks, new electric vehicle (EV) companies like Lucid and Rivian have soared in value. Lucid is up 170% in the past 3 months. Rivian is up 53% in the past 3 weeks. Over the longer term, of course, the numbers are even more staggering: Tesla is up a whopping 1,600% over the past two years. But here’s the thing… Whitney Tilson, a former hedge fund manager who’s twice appeared on CBS’s 60 Minutes to break some of the biggest financial stories of the day, says… “Most Americans, including most investors, are completely missing out on the really big story in the EV sector—which has to do with what is coming next. That’s where the biggest profits and society-changing developments will ultimately be.” And this is why Tilson and his research team have recentl...

Extreme rainfall and past climate: an experiment over twenty European cities

Extreme rainfall and past climate: an experiment over twenty European cities 2 hours ago Charles Rotter 16 Comments Peer-Reviewed Publication CMCC FOUNDATION – EURO-MEDITERRANEAN CENTER ON CLIMATE CHANGE The availability of reliable spatial and temporal data at proper spatial and temporal scale about extreme weather events represents a pivotal challenge for supporting Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) policy and practice. In recent years several  gridded observational datasets  have been developed for Europe and for specific European countries; these products feature different temporal (from hourly to daily) and spatial (from ≃ 1 km to ≃ 10–20 km) resolutions, covering different time spans, and their reliability is strictly related to the density of station networks from which they derive. A potential alternative solution  to ensure homogeneity and continuity of data is represented by the use of  clim...

The Most Extreme 'Rogue Wave' on Record Was Just Confirmed in The North Pacific

Buoy riding the rogue wave. (MarineLabs) NATURE The Most Extreme 'Rogue Wave' on Record Was Just Confirmed in The North Pacific CARLY CASSELLA 14 FEBRUARY 2022 In November of 2020, a freak wave came out of the blue, lifting a lonesome buoy off the coast of British Columbia 17.6 meters high (58 feet). The four-story wall of water has now been confirmed as the most extreme rogue wave ever recorded. Such an exceptional event is thought to occur only once every 1,300 years. And unless the buoy had been taken for a ride, we might never have known it even happened. For centuries, rogue waves were considered nothing but nautical folklore . It wasn't until 1995 that myth became fact. On the first day of the new year, a nearly 26-meter-high wave (85 feet) suddenly struck an oil-drilling platform roughly 160 kilometers (100 miles) off the coast of Norway. At the time, the so-called Draupner wave defied all previous models scientists had put ...

Like nearly every cockamamie scheme cooked up by their fellow travelers on the West Coast, Messed Coast, almost all have backfi...

Federal Court Halts Major Biden Climate Policy

Federal Court Halts Major Biden Climate Policy A federal district court in Louisiana halted one of President Joe Biden’s key climate initiatives implemented shortly after he was inaugurated in January 2021. Judge James Cain, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, concluded that the policy — which declared there were “social costs” of continued greenhouse gas emissions — caused significant harm to Americans, according to his ruling published Friday. The federal judge granted a motion for a preliminary injunction, pausing implementation of the policy. “Plaintiff States have sufficiently identified the kinds of harms to support injunctive relief,” Cain wrote in his ruling. “Moreover, the Court finds that the Plaintiff States have made a clear showing of an injury-in-fact and that such injury ‘cannot be undone through monetary remedies.’” “The Court agrees that the public interest and balance o...

The Misrepresentation Of The Scientific Consensus On Climate Change

97% consensus The Misrepresentation Of The Scientific Consensus On Climate Change Iain Aitken [Note: This essay is abstracted from my eBook Myths: Widely Held But False Beliefs In The Climate Change Crisis , available on Amazon] In their Fifth Assessment Report the IPCC, the ‘internationally accepted scientific authority on climate change’, gave their opinion of how much of the recent global warming was caused by human activity: ‘It is extremely likely [95-100 percent confidence] more than half of the observed increase in global mean surface temperature from 1951 to 2010 was caused by the anthropogenic [i.e. man-made] increase in greenhouse gas concentrations and other anthropogenic forcings together’. Reflecting that opinion Wikipedia states that the ‘Scientific consensus on climate change’ is that ‘the Earth is warming and… this warming is mainly caused ...
